Soybean is an extremely rich source of protein. It has 36-53g of protein per 100g compared to only 20g in other pulses (Perfect for hitting the 60g protein mark daily). It is also rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids (good fats), especially omega-3 fatty acids. It is a staple in Asian culture. So, there is a plethora of options to consume this miraculous bean.
Soy Chunks, Tempeh, Soy milk, Tofu, Soybean oil, and Miso to name a few.
Sounds like every vegetarian’s dream, right? Ideally, it should be gobbled up in tonnes, right?
Sadly, no. The truth is, half our population shuns this innocent cutie like the plague!
It is because of the phytoestrogen (phyto means plant; estrogen is one of the female hormones) content in soy, which is feared to cause hormonal imbalance in our monsieurs and senors.
Research on analysis of clinical data regarding feminizing effects and impact on total testosterone (Testosterone is the male hormone) reveals quite the opposite. After meticulous statistical analysis, there is no significant impact due to soy protein intake.

So, let’s change the definition of soy: SOY (n.) – Every gym bro’s best friend.
